Azure Platform Engineer – Remote, Coventry (occasionally on site for training/meetings) – £50,000 – £75,000 + bonuses

The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Platform Engineer to join our team and help us design and build critical public and government service applications. As a Platform Engineer, you will work on the cutting edge of cloud technology and solutions and be part of a vibrant and inclusive team that values positivity and development at its core. This role requires Security Clearance.

The client:

We sit at the heart of British defence and space and deliver services directly to government bodies. We have sites across the UK but the role would be essentially based around the London region. Applications from other regions are encouraged but bear in mind that you may have to travel to the Coventry office for occasional training and meetings now and again.

Responsibilities:

• Support and monitor live applications
• Design, build, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure
• Design, build, and maintain build and release pipelines
• Manage integrations between hosting platforms and applications
• Deploy and monitor software and configuration changes
• Automate efficient working practices where possible

Key Requirements:

• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience working solely on Azure environments
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly their Platform as a Service offerings (App Services, Azure SQL, CosmosDB, Azure Search, KeyVault, etc.)
• Infrastructure as Code experience, primarily (but not limited to) ARM templates
• Scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
• Building, Managing and securing C# ASP.Net web applications
• Web-based authentication flows such as OAuth or SAML
• Effective source control management with Git
• Build and Release Management using Azure DevOps (VSTS) or a similar product
• Experience of Test Driven Development and associated technologies such as NUnit, XUnit
• UI / Functional testing with Selenium
• Experience monitoring large distributed systems using technologies such as ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, and tooling provided by cloud platform vendors
• Past experience working in an Agile environment

Preferred Skills:

• Background in a consultancy is preferred but not essential
• Experience working with other cloud environments such as AWS & Google Cloud
• Experience with container management and micro-services architectures such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Java
